(AMAZON LINK) This is the drive I have been using on the Pi 5 with an M.2 HAT by Pineberry Pi and it has been working really well. It's plenty fast for my needs and provides adequate storage.
(AMAZON LINK) The Pi 5 PCIe connector opens up the possibility to using an NVMe drive with your Raspberry Pi computer. These 2030 drives are becoming more affordable, energy efficient and plenty fast for daily usage with the Pi 5.
(AMAZON LINK) This is an affordable and reliable SSD. I've used this SSD with my Pi 4 for several years without any issues. This is not the fastest SSD out there but you don't need something super fast to use it through USB 3.0 with the Pi 4.
(AMAZON LINK) In order to use an SSD with the Pi 4, you need a SATA to USB adapter. This UGREEN cable supports UASP, which means it can transfer SATA data through USB much faster that non-UASP adapters. I have been using this adapter with the Kingston SSD listed above with my Pi 4 for years with great result.
